Chronic Compartment syndrome
Chronic Compartment syndrome is an overuse injury.
The symptoms of this syndrome are pain and burning in the affected areas, or contraction of the limb.
It will usually be the shins. But sometimes the syndrome also appears in other areas such as the arm or forearm.
The pain usually appears shortly after the start of training and passes some time after the end of training. The longer the phenomenon lasts, the longer it takes for the pain to pass from the moment the end of the workout.
What happens in this injury is that the sore muscle undergoes hypertrophy. (it swells and grows as a result of the activity). Because the space in which the muscle is located is inflexible, the pressure in the section increases and adversely affects the blood supply in the space. The muscle, as a result of the swelling and density, does not get the required energy supply. And this leads to the fatigue and weakness of the muscle. All of these cause the release of various chemicals that trigger the sensation of pain throughout the affected area.
treatment
- Muscle stretching immediately after the end of the activity. With a preference for slow and prolonged stretches.
- Warming up
- The duration of the phenomenon over time can lead to permanent damage to the muscles. And even Disability in the execution of the movement in the future. Therefore, the injury must be treated and must not be ignored.
Every pain and discomfort can have reasons that are not written here.
And even if you recognize all the symptoms, it is still not 100% sure you are suffering from Chronic Compartment syndrome! Stay calm, and if you are worried that you have experienced this injury, see a doctor who will examine you!
Beyond the injury in this article, it may be inflammation, a tight muscle, or a muscle nut that is squeezing and causing discomfort.
If it is a tight muscle or a muscle nut that presses on the painful area, we recommend a professional massage! If you want to do everything yourself, go toa video we have prepared especially for you on the subject of muscle release.
It is important that you learn about your body, knowing that when tissue is damaged in the body, the immune system responds. In response there are 2 stages:
The inflammatory stage – at this stage the body diverts the tissues destroyed by body cells that are designed to do so, and at this stage the blood flow to that area is increased.
Construction phase – At this stage the body repairs itself, rebuilds itself and repairs the damage caused. This process is injury dependent and can take up to several months.
