Impingement Syndrome 

Impingement  Syndrome This syndrome is accompanied by shoulder pain that sometimes radiates along the arm to the fingertips as well. The pain is felt mainly during the actions of turning the hand inward in combination with the lifting of the arm. For example, an operation such as emptying a can. The pain will also be felt during actions of full movement over the head (wearing a shirt, reaching for a high shelf). In addition, pain may appear after sleeping or leaning on the hand. Another indication of the phenomenon is while lying on your back with your hand on your head, difficulty lowering your hand down.

The syndrome is caused by a narrowing of the space between the shoulder bone and the shoulder blade.

Impingement  Syndrome can occur to anyone who exercises with his hands repeatedly at shoulder height or slightly above.
Athletes, such as tennis players, swimmers, and weightlifters, are the ones who are particularly vulnerable to this injury, due to the repetitive motion they perform.

treatment

In addition to the usual supportive care (cooling the area and rest) treatment of this syndrome is mainly preventive. It includes strengthening of the muscles responsible for bringing the shoulder blades to the spine. And increase the flexibility of the muscles in the shoulder spin.
Also, care must be taken to change the posture of the spine (back alignment). And to avoid repetitive work in the range of 80 to 120 degrees of distance. Especially when the shoulder is turned inwards.

Sometimes it is necessary to perform surgical treatment. In which the shape of the acromion (grinding of the bone ends) is changed. This reduces the contact between the head of the arm and the bone and prevents the phenomenon.
