In the lower part of the foot, There is a longitudinal ligament. Which connects the base of all toes and toes to the heel of the foot. The function of the strap is to support the arches of the foot. And if something is wrong there, it will lead to pain in the foot.

Inflammation of this ligament is the most common cause of foot pain.

The symptoms of this inflammation are dull or sharp pain in the foot (in the heel area). Which appears mainly in the first steps after sleep, after standing or sitting for a long time, or climbing stairs.

Inflammation of the longitudinal ligament is defined as an injury due to overuse. Among athletes, it is mainly characteristic of those who engage in long runs.
As a result of the pressure exerted on it, the ligament begins to tear in the part closest to the heel. In response to tears, a process of inflammation begins that accompanies pain while stepping.

Treatment

First, the treatment most effective in this case is its prevention. It is important to take care of sneakers that support the arches of the footwell.

In case the phenomenon has already occurred it is recommended to perform appropriate stretching exercises, warm up the area with the help of heat baths and of course, give rest to the legs.

In case of severe pain, redness, or local fever, ice bags can be placed on the heel for 15 minutes.

It is important to note that the treatment of this inflammation must be carried out quickly! Failure to treat the inflammation will cause a change in the shape of the tread on the foot as a result of the pain, thus contributing to the development of additional problems, in the knees, and even in the back.
