Spondylolysis
Spondylolysis is a common back problem that affects 3% -6% of the population. Spondylolysis is expressed in a defect in the vertebrae. In the vast majority of cases, the problem occurs in the lumbar vertebrae, but it may also occur in the upper vertebrae.
The phenomenon of spondylolysis usually begins following a stress fracture in the vertebra. In many cases, the problem is suffered by teenagers who train excessively in sports such as tennis, diving, and various martial arts.
Signs and Symptoms Spondylolysis:
- Back pain in the fracture area. Appears mainly in spinal movements, with an emphasis on reclining.
- Depending on the severity of the condition, there may be radiation to the buttocks and legs area, due to the proximity to the spinal cord in this area.
This injury can be diagnosed using a simple x-ray.
Treatment:
There are many options for treatment. For example, ultrasound therapy, electrical
pain, cooling of the spot, relief gentle stretching exercises, manual therapy and medication, injections, or the administration of anti-inflammatory and analgesic drugs. Depending on the decision of the attending physician.
