All athletes need a strong muscular base that can withstand intense training, which is built in the gym. Basic strength improvement training is the basis for building explosive strength, maximum strength and so on. Basic strength training is training that is done on the off season. Basic strength training has high volume, low intensity, and lots of repetitions.
Explosive power
Through the tools available in the gym, the explosive power can be improved with the help of working with high intensity and low volume.
What we do not recommend doing
We do not really recommend athletes to do a non-customed gym program. For athletes, the year should be divided into periods in which each part of the year the athletes are supposed to work on something else in the gym. Unlike people who go to the gym for health purposes, their program should be similarly most of the year, except for periods of bulking and toning.
A mistake we see in a lot of athletes is that they forget that they go to the gym to be better at their sport, and they just work to look bigger regardless of their sport. They may look better, but they can hurt their sport with the wrong workout.
Be specific!
Hundred-meter runners and football players do not have to work on the same things in the gym, for hundred-meter runners the importance of muscular endurance is less important compared to football players. Each sport has different physical requirements and so the fitness program of that athlete should be different.
