Why a diet starting on a Monday will never succeed

Did it ever happen to you, that you set yourself a task for later because you just did not feel like doing it now?

And when it was time to get to it, you postponed it a little longer and longer?
This is what I personally would have done in my not-so-distant past. Because of this disease of procrastination, it was hard to succeed in a diet, my room has always been messy, I was late to places and did not feel I was able to finish things properly. The turning point was when I realized something very, very important about life.

I have come to the conclusion that we are putting things off because we believe we will be better in a few days, minutes, or hours. We truly believe, that if we do not have the desire or the energy to start acting at this moment, our future self will have the energy to do it. What we fail to realize is that in a minute or an hour or a year. We will be exactly the same person. Unless we are chosen to act differently.

How different do you think you are now from who you were yesterday?

You probably did not change at all. But if yesterday you would decide to make a change in your life and you would make it immediately. For example, you would stop with the sweet drinks, then already today you would feel a little better, and your diet would be better. This means that yesterday, you changed your future self for the better. You made him a better, healthier person, which would not happen if you postponed the action.

The attitude I believe in is this (and concentrate as much as you can):

you of the present cannot influence the self of yesterday but can influence the self of the future.
The self of the past could change the self of the present and the future. The
self of the future could not affect the self of the now and of the past.
The self of the future is directly affected by the self of the present and of the past.
The self of the future is in not better than the self of the present or of the past unless I have acted in its favor.

What this means is that if you set a diet for Monday, chances are that if you did not start it by now, you will not start it on Monday either, because you live in the belief that the future self is better in some magic way than the present self.

What is the medicine?

So what I recommend doing as a first step is to implement the two-minute law. What the law says is to think of things you need to do. If they take less than 2 minutes, do them immediately. For example, do not throw socks in the living room and then pick them up. Throw them directly into the laundry basket/machine. By doing so, you improve your future self many times over.
